Honda Odyssey review in Kenya

From our interaction with Honda Odyssey, here is what we have to say.

Overall rating(4.1)
Comfort
Reliability
Driving experience
Safety
Value for money

For comfort, you will enjoy a very spacious interior, some models will also come with leather seats. The downside is the car is that noise insulation is not that great and you will hear the engine noise especially when accelerating. The spacious rows come in hand for a family since both adults can sit comfortably on any row.

Odyssey engine is reliable and you should expect a long service life as far as you take good care of your care. Service and maintenance schedules should also be observed as instructed on the maintenance schedule from the manufacturer. Some of the problems reported by users of the Odyssey include engine vibration, braking system issues, transmission problems, car start failure and water leaks. These problems can however be avoided with proper maintenance.

The driving experience on the Honda Odyssey is generally low. The engine feels underpowered, while the CVT transmission gives smooth driving, it removes the interaction with the car that you get when driving a manual or automatic mated engine. Some models of the Odyssey do not have an electric brake. On the other hand, although the handling of the car is not the best, it is still great for such a large MPV car.

The 2014 to 2020 models of the Honda Odyssey are given a 5-star rating when it comes to safety by ANCAP safety. The Honda Sensing suite (Collision Mitigation Braking System, Road Departure Mitigation System, Adaptive Cruise Control, Lane Keeping Assist System) assists the driver hence reducing the possibility of an accident. Also, the Dual frontal airbags, side chest airbags, side head airbags (curtains), Antilock brakes (ABS), electronic brake distribution (EBD) and electronic stability control (ESC) come as standard features.

Looking at value for money, we would give an average score. The car is reliable and will not dent your pocket with frequent repairs. Honda spare parts are also affordable. However, the driving experience is not that great, the engine power could be more and the interior needs some improvements. It is possible to get a car similar to the Odyssey but with fewer downsides. Considering all this, the value for money is not that high.

Bottomline

Honda Odyssey price in Kenya is slightly high although the vehicle does not have a lot of competition. When it comes to running costs, you will save much since the Odyssey maintenance cost is low because of its reliability, additionally, the hybrid option will give you great fuel economy.
