1. Mitsubishi Delica D5 exterior

Delica D5 exterior is not one of the most impressive, however, in the class of minivans it competes with, it can be given the medal on looks since it has better looks than its rivals. It resembles an SUV but still has that minivan look. The ground clearance is also good.

Here are the exterior features of the D5:

  • This is a 5 doors vehicle(two front, two rare and the tailgate)

Below are the interior features of the Delica D5:

  • The seating capacity is 7 to 8 and it is usually in 3 rows
  • Delica D5 has great legroom on all three rows
  • The seats can be adjusted to each passenger’s comfort
  • There are different storage compartments in the cabin, this includes the cupholders
  • The boot space of the minivan is small, however, the second and third rows of seats can be folded to give a very large cargo trunk
  • Delica comes with basic tech features

3. Mitsubishi Delica D5 engine

The engine of the Delica is somehow powerful. It uses the CVT transmission that is great for a smooth drive and improving fuel economy but not the thrill.

Delica D5 engine

Here are the Delica D5 engine features:

  • The engine capacity is either a 2.0 L petrol, 2.2 L diesel turbocharged and 2.4 petrol
  • You can choose between a Front Wheel Drive(FF) and All Wheel Drive(AWD)
  • Fuel consumption is between 10km/l to 15km/l
  • The power given ranges from 145ps to 170ps
  • The engine is mated to an INVECS-III CVT(Continuous Variable Transmission)
  • Lastly, this car has a tank capacity of 65 Liters

For fuel efficiency, the 2.0L consumes less than the 2.2L or even 2.4L engine. The 2.2 Liter engine consumption is also not that bad but the power given is less. The 2.4 Liter balance between power and consumption, if you more power without paying much on fuel, you can consider the 2.4 Liter engine.

For a 2WD the consumption is slightly less than that of the 4WD. However, a 4WD is better since it will transverse poor terrains with ease and the consumption difference is not that great when driving on highways.

Delica D5 is that car you should go for if you need comfort, space, reliability and average power. If you are looking for a great drive thrill or excellent fuel economy or even top luxury, this vehicle might not be your number on the list.

Mitsubishi Delica D5 cost in Kenya

Looking at comfort, Mitsubishi Delica D5 is a very comfortable car. It is spacious in all three rows. The headroom is also great. Although it is not among the luxurious vans in the market, you will enjoy comfortable rides. The car however has a lot of plastics on the dashboard, also, kids might find it hard to board the vehicle since it is raised.

When it comes to the driving experience, Delica is in the middle of the score. The engine gives sufficiently good power, we feel you will even get more if you go for the turbocharged engine. The handling of the Delica is good but there is a bit of body roll when driving around corners. CVT transmission on the vehicle does not give the driving thrill you would get in an automatic or manual transmission.

Delica D5 comes with a reliable engine. The car will not break down frequently, you just have to take good care of it and go for maintenance as recommended in the owner’s manual. The only issue you might face is with the CVT but this can be solved by installing a more efficient cooling system for the transmission. Some spare parts might however be costly since they are hard to find around, especially due to the fact that this car is not very popular on our roads.

Delica’s D5 value for money is average. The car will give you reliability, space and comfort. On the other hand, the driving thrill is not top at the top. Also, the fuel consumption is not that impressive and you will be required to use good driving skills to save on fuel costs.

Conclusion

The Price of Mitsubishi Delica in Kenya might be slightly high than the competitors, the minivan is however stylish both on the inside and exterior and hence the cost might be worth it. The running cost might be slightly high since the spare parts are a bit expensive and the fuel economy is average.
