Comfort

Axela comfort and interior styling are good. The seats feel comfortable, the air conditioning is also great. The Bose music system from Mazda which gives quality sound is also fitted in recent models of this car. Mazda 3 also comes with excellent tech features. However, the rear seats are a little bit tight for tall passengers and noise insulation is not that great.

Reliability

When it comes to reliability, Mazda 3 especially the petrol engine has a good reputation. You just have to care for the car and service as recommended to get a good service life with no major breakdowns. The maintenance cost is also low since the spare parts are affordable and available in Kenya.

Driving experience

While the driving experience is not at the top, you will still like the fact that Mazda Axela has an automatic transmission instead of the CVT in most of its rivals. The engine power feels lacking and the handling is not that much great, especially around corners. The 6.1 inches ground clearance of the Axela is not that bad, you will be able to cruise most bumps except for the very huge ones.

Safety rating

From ANCAP, the 2016 to 2018 models of Mazda 3 have a 5-star safety rating. Dual frontal, side-protecting chest and side head-protecting airbags (curtains) are standard. Autonomous emergency braking (City and Vulnerable Road User) is standard on all variants. Advanced seat belt reminders are fitted to all seats. All this increases the safety of the car.

Value for money

We fill like the value for money for the Axela is not at the top. While you will get good tech features and reliability, the handling, engine power and comfort are lacking. That being said you should still have the Mazda 3 on your purchase list since it is not the worst.
