We spent some time testing the Outlander, here is how we rate it with regards to our experience.
The comfort of the car is rather not at the top of the list when compared to its rival crossover SUVs in the Kenyan Market. While the legroom on the second and first row is great, the third row for the seven-seater options is tight and can’t fit adults comfortably. The clothe seats do not also feel comfortable especially on the second row. There are however leather options in high trims. The car is also spacious and has good headroom.
The reliability of the car is great, however, the CVT of some Outlander models might be problematic, you can install a transmission cooling system that is more efficient to avoid issues. You will just have to take the car for service as recommended in the maintenance schedule. Additionally, take care of your car and you will be good to go. The Outlander is a car that you will leave with and won’t have to worry about your pocket since they will be no major problems. The fuel economy of the car is however not that great unless you get a hybrid one.
When it comes to the driving experience, the handling of the car is plenty good. However, for the 2.0L the engine performance is low, you can get more power with the 2.4L and 3.0L which will obviously consume more fuel. The CVT transmission also lowers the driving experience since one does not interact with the vehicle like you would on Automatic and Manual transmission.
According to ANCAP tests, Mitsubishi Outlander has a safety rating of 5 stars for the 2015 models onwards. Dual frontal, side chest and side head airbags (curtains) and a driver knee airbag are standard. Antilock brakes (ABS), electronic brakeforce distribution (EBD) and electronic stability control (ESC) are also standard. Advanced seat belt reminders are fitted to both front seats.

The 2.4 Liter balance between power and consumption, if you more power without paying much on fuel, you can consider the 2.4 Liter engine.
The Outlander is a reliable car that is also well priced in Kenya compared to other crossover SUVs in its class. The car handles well or the driving is smooth without much interaction between the driver and the car lowering the driving experience.
